This was a trying day. The mother-in-law insisted that we take the girls to the funeral. Fortunately, Leslie and Stefan agreed to watch the girls at the trailer during the actual funeral. It worked out well. The church was packed and it was hot. Stefan and Leslie would have been complaining if they had to go there too. It was a nice service though...Especially when all the grand-children and great-grandchildren went up to the front to sing. Uncle Welch led a full life and he's now with his beloved Dot again. Thank the Lord, the graveside service was short. It had to be at least 98 degrees out there. They folded the flag and played Taps then it was over.
After retrieving all the kids from the trailer, we went to Uncle Welch's house to eat. This was definitely not the same kind of atmosphere that prevailed when Aunt Dot died. Sylvia was barely in the house before she packed her car up, took things off the wall and out of the house, and left going home. She didn't even wait until after the meal. It was just a very stressful feeling..very unsettled. I think that changes are coming for that family. I was very glad that Carolyn was ready to leave when she did. Especially with the girls acting the way that they were.
