Our Easter weekend collection

We had a great family filled Easter weekend. And it didn't hurt that the weather was nice too. On Saturday, the girls played outside with their "twirly whirls" (I call them spinners) while Greg and Stefan worked on the extension to his building.

Stefan to the rescue...Sarah tore her spinner off.

Emma's red galoshes...she loves those things.

The boys working.

Stefan decided to make modifications to the girls playhouse.

That evening, everyone got involved in the Easter egg coloring project.

Easter morning....Mom made the girls' dresses.

Stefan played Easter bunny and put all the eggs out. He is so good about things like this.

Sarah is the lip gloss queen!

We had a great day...hope you did too.

Private along with everyone else

Well...I went ahead and decided to go private with my blog. If you want me to add you to the reader list, just let me know by April 1st. I may change my mind at a later date, but for now, I am following the crowd.

Just let me know :)

A movie first

Friday night our family did a first....all five of us went to the movies together. In fact, it was the first time that Sarah ever went to the theater. And the last time Emma went was when she was a month old....and that was for one of the Lord of The Rings movies. I don't think that counts.

As you may have guessed by now, we saw, "Horton Hears A Who!" It was really funny. Stefan even laughed and didn't get his style cramped too much by hanging out with his family. (Of course it helped that some girl came running up after the movie and hugged him).

Sarah was in awe of the big screen.

Afterwards, we came home and made chocolate chip cookies then watched "Enchanted" with the boys. And believe it or not, they actually thought it was cute too!

It was a good family night.

Girls Night

Thursday night Greg and Stefan went to the country and left the girl at home to play. After an exciting moment when Sarah bit the fire out of Emma's leg (her excuse was that Emma wouldn't leave her alone), we decided to go rent a movie.

The three amigos....that would be the three of us....rented "Enchanted" ad I had never seen this, but heard that it was good. We returned to the house, changed into pj's, popped popcorn, piled up on the couch under a comforter, and popped in the movie. Well...I guess we slid the movie in...DVD player. Anyway, we just loved the movie. The girls laughed and laughed. Emma kept saying that she loved the "romantic" movie.

Sometimes it is fun to spend quality time with them doing nothing but just spending time with them.

Migraines...ugh!

So....the doctor put me on this "wonder" drug for migraines called Topamax. It is supposed to be really good. In fact a very good friend of mine takes it and has had success. I liked the fact that one of the side effects us weight loss. Oh yeah...sounded good...no headaches and I would lose weight...I was so there!

So about 3 days into taking this wonder drug, I started to feel really depressed....I mean really depressed. The angry. After about the second day of yo-yo / bi-polar feelings I was beginning to realize that maybe things weren't all ok with me. The doctor had said that mood swings were a side effect...possibly. Of course, I then read up on it and found that yes, mood swings AND depression are side effects of this medication. Not everyone experiences it, but lucky me...I did. I was really not excited about taking a drug every single day when I didn't have a headache anyway. Oh...did I mention that starting on day 2 of the wonder drug, I got a headache!

Umm...I am now starting on day 1 of getting that drug out of my system.....so if you see me at church on Sunday and I seem snappy...don't take it personally...it's the meds:)

Thanks, doc...I think I will stick with my dear old friend: Imitrex

Band Festival

Yeah for the Haughton High School Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony. They both competed in the District VIII Louisiana Music Educators Association Band Division Large Ensemble Festival this week at Airline High School. Both bands will be continuing on to state.

Stefan is second chair in the Wind Symphony so I went to listen on Thursday. They did REALLY well.

Where to begin...what a week

I'll start with last weekend. Greg wanted to go to our place in the "country". I actually went because I needed the quiet...well, as much quiet as you can get with two little girls around :)

I not a big country type girl, but it is always nice in the spring time when everything is starting to bloom and turn green.
And of course, the girls and Greg love to go to the country. Its a great place for the girls to be able to run and get all their energy out without having to worry about other people, traffic, etc.

The healthy child

Stefan has always been my healthy child. I think he has only been sick enough to stay home from school 3 or 4 times. And that is since he has been in school. He has only been to the emergency room once....when he was 10. He managed to get a splinter that we could not get out at home. What I am trying to say is this: The only time that Stefan goes to the doctor is when he inflicts injury upon himself....usually.

We almost had an emergency room visit last night for this very reason. Stefan was helping Greg cut some limbs down yesterday. Somehow, one of the branches got behind Stefan's glasses and stabbed him in the eye. We were able to get alot of the bark out of his eye, but there was a piece that seemed to be embedded or stuck on his iris. Following the advice of a good friend, we flushed his eye...to no avail. The piece was still there. Stefan was not having any pain, so we decided to watch it over night and determine what we would do in the morning.

Low and behold, this morning the piece was gone...completely. Stefan's eye was still a little red, but there was absolutely nothing in it. I'm telling you, this kid is blessed.

Doctors and such

As I mentioned earlier, on Friday I went to the doctor. I really haven't been feeling good since October of last year. Between a bad toothache, work, and holiday stuff, I was beat. I thought that I would feel better after the holidays, but I never really did. I have had migraines all my life, but they stopped after I had Sarah. A few years ago, they started back every now and then. Since the fall, I have had them regularly. Anyway, I got tired of never feeling good, so I went in.

Let's just say that my sugars running around 270 were not helping me. I am not back on diabetic medication and my doctor gave me a prescription for migraine medicine again. I am a little bummed about being back on the meds, but I am hopeful that I will really start to feel better. Just another day :)

Snow!?!

I know that everyone has probably already blogged about the snow.....but...now it's my turn. Can you believe how much it snowed on Friday? We never believe the weatherman when it comes to snow, but they were right! The girls and I had to go to the doctor and had a hard time even seeing the road on several occasions. They were so excited...so I promised we would go "play" after we left the doctor's office.

They are so funny. I took them to the park and told them they could run and play, but all Emma wanted to do was try and catch a snowflake on her tongue. She was convinced that it would taste like ice cream.
Of course, if Emma did it, then Sarah had to do it too. I think they were both disappointed when the snow didn't taste like "anything". Sarah said that it just "went away in her mouth".

They did play for a little while, but both of them had blue lips and were shaking within 10 minutes. Sarah actually asked if we could go home.

Emma still had to do a little more "snow tasting" before we left.
I thought they were done for the day, but when we got home they wanted to go back out again. So on with the caps and scarves...and out to the yard.

They were so excited when Greg got home. He actually took off early so he could come home and play with the girls. They saw our neighbors making a snowman, so they begged Daddy to make one too. (Well....I sort of suggested it. I mean how often do we really get snow anyway?)

Here they are with their Daddy and their snowman. Can you tell that the girls are freezing? Sarah said that she couldn't even feel her hands.

By the way, this "creative" little guy was named "Snowy Bo" by the girls. Don't ask me, I don't know.
Poor Stefan, he missed all of the fun while he was at school. Not to be outdone by his sisters, our neighbor and him made this funny looking snow guy. However, this snowman never stood a chance. Shortly after this picture was taken, the boys got the bright idea that it would be fun to mow the snowman down with a car. So Stefan plowed over him....in our nice wet yard. Let's just say that Stefan had a lot of fun trying to stomp out the ruts that he left in the yard. Ohhh I just love the workings of the teenage boy's mind.
